Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy set a higher standard for superhero movies with its dark and gritty portrayal of Batman and his journey. Gary Oldman was a part of that world as police commissioner Jim Gordon, so what does he think of the Caped Crusader's inclusion in the next Superman movie, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice?
The actor spoke to Yahoo! U.K. as part of his press tour for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and the site asked for his opinion on Batman v Superman.
"They want to keep it going. Of course they do. But, it's Superman yeah? Batman and Superman together? We shall see. The thing about Nolan, there was some grounding of reality to it. In our trilogy, and as fantastical and as big as The Joker was, it was based [on reality]... we could relate to it. But now we've got a Batman and we've got a guy who can fly who's an alien?! We'll have to see...It's got big shoes to fill."
The movie certainly could come out over-the-top and excessive, but Man of Steel had Nolan's fingerprints all over it, so hopefully the sequel does not become bloated.
When Batman does appear on screen, many fans will be keenly interested in the costume.
The site Batman-on-Film.com reports through a source named "Shoeless" that Ben Affleck's costume has a cloth look but is in fact mostly foam rubber:
"Batfleck's Batsuit is steel grey and black. It's mostly made of foam rubber even though it appears to be 'cloth.' It has the muscles built into the suit (which I think is supposed to be 'armor' under the 'cloth' bodysuit.
