Marian Carey might be this-close to saying yes to being a judge on American Idol. Carey hasbeen rumored to be in the talks to become the next American Idol judge to take the hot seats of Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler since last week.
If Carey takes on the job, she could earn over $17 million per season, according to Deadline. That is more than what Britney Spear earns on The X Factor USA.
Since Lopez and Tyler officially quit American Idol after two years, many names have come up as potential judges including Adam Lambert, Katy Perry and even Charlie Sheen odd enough.
When asked about whether Carey is in the talks with American Idol, husband Nick Cannon responded that the Fox TV show may not be able to afford Carey. Cannon also alluded to the fact that his superstar wife has many people pursuing to "talk" to her.
So, if Carey does sign the deal, there is one and potentially two seats left to fill next to her. Randy Jackson who is the original judge from season one may step it up as a mentor.
Some singers and celebrities have already expressed that if asked, they'd definitely take up the offer. "Respect" hit maker Aretha Frankln and actor Sheen are among those who seem "eager" to sign up. (though Sheen may be joking)
Stay tuned for more American Idol updates.
