The king once again won the MLB Home Run Derby. No, not the king of the NBA, LeBron James, but the king of the Derby, Oakland Athletics' Yoenis Cespedes. Cespedes has been a revelation since he came to America, and he wants to win anything and everything, when baseball is involved, anyway. On Monday night, Cespedes stepped on to the field to defend his title, and he hit 30 homers all together, with nine coming in the final. The star defeated his opponent, Todd Frazier, becoming the first person to win back-to-back Derbys since Ken Griffey Jr did it in 1998-99. Watch the action HERE.
The Derby welcomed a new style, with the American League taking on the National League, and players going head-to-head. However, a different system or not, Cespedes didn't care, he wanted to win no matter how he did so. He never looked like losing as he continued to blast the ball all over the place. Fans took to Twitter and were in awe of his stunning performance.
Cespedes has become an important part of Oakland's revamp in the last few years, with the team going from an MLB struggler, to MLB monsters. Many believe they can win the 2014 World Series, and with Yoenis in this kind of form, who would bet against them?
Did the new system ruin the Home Run Derby, or did it make it more exciting? Just how good is Cespedes, and can he blast his way to the World Series? It's going to be a great second half of the season.
