Lana Del Rey Covers Rolling Stone Magazine - Indie Darling Opens Up About Her Life, Lyrics, And The Infamous 'I Wish I Were Dead' Quote

Lana Del Rey can now add Rolling Stone cover girl to her resume.

The very elusive indie-pop darling looks flawless as she graces the pages of the music magazine, curling up in bed and posing with a feline friend. The cover reads "Lana Del Rey, The Saddest, Baddest Diva in Rock."

In the issue, which is out this Friday, Lana opens up about feeling crazy, her lyrics, and that now infamous quote. However, the magazine reveals that the interview and cover story almost didn't happen, saying that Lana tried to back out at the last minute, thinking that she wasn't worthy enough for the honor.

"I'm not sure if they should run this story," the alternative singer revealed to Brian Hiatt, a senior writer for the magazine. "I feel like maybe we should wait until there's something good to talk about. You know? I just wish you could write about something else. There has to be someone else to be the cover story. Like, there has to be. Anybody."

The "West Coast" singer opens up to the magazine, saying that people often make her feel like she's crazy.  "Well, I feel f**king crazy," Lana reveals. " But I don't think I am. People make me feel crazy."

The singer ran into some controversy earlier this year when an interview published a quote by her saying "I wish I were dead." She chalks the quote up to a leading question but does say, "I find that most people I meet figure I kind of want to kill myself anyway. So, it comes up every time."

Her lyrics often carry that same message such as "he hit me and it felt like a kiss," but Lana says that when she records, she doesn't do it for her anyone but herself.

"I'm very selfish," the singer explains. "I make everything for me, kind of I mean, every little thing, down to the guitar and drums. It's just for me. I don't want them to hear it and think about it. It's none of their business!"
