The How I Met Your Mother spinoff entitled How I Met Your Dad was a shocking omission from CBS' lineup for next fall when the network made the announcement several months ago that it had not ordered it to series. But the network's boss has now commented that the show could get another chance on the Eye.

CBS' Nina Tassler said she is interested in taking "another shot" on the network, according to E! Online. The show starred Greta Gerwig with Meg Ryan as the narrator. HIMYM co-creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, alongside Emily Spivey, made the spinoff.

"Craig and Carter and Emily, we adore those guys, we want very much to stay in business with them," Tassler said. "We'd love the opportunity to take another shot."

Tassler also seemingly confirmed that CBS' main problem with the pilot was the casting of the other main characters. Other than Gerwig in the main role, the show starred Nicholas D'Agosto, Andrew Santino, Tiya Sircar, Drew Tarver and Anders Holm.

"I think at this point you make the best decisions you can, relative to casting," she said. "There's a lot going on during pilot season and some things about this How I Met Your Dad worked and some things didn't."

Tassler gave the example of The Big Bang Theory, which did not include Kaley Cuoco in the original pilot.

"As I've said many, many times, Big Bang would not be Big Bang without having re-done that pilot," she said. "I can't imagine Kaley Cuoco not being part of that show."
