If you can't beat them, then join them. That seems to be English Premier League side Chelsea's approach to Atletico Madrid's La Liga title win and UEFA Champions League finalist place. So far Chelsea have signed Diego Costa and Filipe Luis from the UCL Runners-up, and they are after more of their star players. Chelsea seem set to take not only their style and approach, but many of the quality team-first players that got them there.

Atletico dumped Chelsea out of the UCL as they marched to the final, however, they lost to Real Madrid. Also, they won the La Liga title ahead of Real and Barcelona, meaning everyone has started to take note of their unique approach. Madrid ensured they had a team-first emphasis, and a style that doesn't revolve around one player. It seems coach Jose Mourinho is going to adopt that approach, hoping to make Chelsea a near unbeatable force.

First they signed Costa in a near $50 million deal, meaning they have a much better strike-force than in recent years. Now they've taken Luis, who will fill their vacant spot at left back. The 28-year-old will provide them with a solid defender, who can also attack when needed to do so.

Can Chelsea taste success through this style, and are Madrid sick of the sight of the English contenders? It seems like Jose wants his side to have the Spanish flair that took Madrid to their unexpected success last season, and he's prepared to buy it rather than build it himself.
