You would never have expected it at first, but Queen Elizabeth II is a huge fan of the HBO series, Game of Thrones? Her Majesty loves the TV show so much, that she asks the Royal Guard to perform the theme music at Buckingham Palace.
The Queen's Guard are a group of cavalry soldiers protecting the royal residences in London. The Grenadier Guards are the ones we see in the red and white uniforms. Most of their training is devoted to practice drills and ceremonies.
It's no secret that Queen Elizabeth toured the GoT set in Belfast. During her visit, the real-life monarch spoke with the cast, such as Lena Headey, Kit Harington, and Maisie Williams. Who knows if the showrunners, David Benioff and Dan Weiss, dished out some secrets on what's going to happen next season.
In the video, which was caught by a bystander, we see the Queen's Life Guard starting out with the drum set. Once the horns start playing, that's when observers start to catch on. The infantry officers are actually playing the theme music.
When the horns start booming at full blast, we see the marching guards heading across in the background. This is when we know they must have been practicing this recital for some time. From the orchestration to the hiking, everything has been planned out perfectly.
And the crowd goes wild when the music stops.
