It seems Rory McIIroy has been a busy man lately. The star golfer made history, joining Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus as the only golfers to win their third major golf title by the age of 25. He completed the wire-to-wire victory on Sunday, winning the 143rd British Open Championship at Royal Liverpool in Hoylake, England, but he got more than he bargained for, getting booed by Liverpool fans for mentioning his love of Manchester United.

McIIroy started the day with a six-stroke lead over his 25-year-old rival, American Rickie Fowler, who kept him on his toes. After winning the Open Championship he mentioned his love of Manchester United, Liverpool's rival team. Many Liverpool fans were present, and although happy for his golfing victory, they were quick to boo him for his soccer loyalty. Something suggests he knew what he was doing.

With McIIroy now in the company of Woods and Nicklaus many are suggesting that he could go on to become one of the best players the sport has ever had, but can he carry on in this form for years to come, or has he reached his prime far earlier than the majority of his competitors have?

Although Roy had the golfing bragging rights, he will be hoping his team, United, can reclaim the soccer bragging rights from Liverpool, then he might just have two reasons to celebrate. Can Roy become a more accomplished golfer than the likes of Woods and Nicklaus, and can his soccer team become the British champion once again?
