The cast of Season 3 of the CW's Arrow has grown by one, and this latest edition could have major implications for the future of the show. Multiple sites report J.R. Ramirez has joined the series as Ted Grant, aka Wildcat.
In the show, Wildcat is an ex-boxer who runs a gym for underprivileged children in Starling City. In the comics, Wildcat is a member of the Justice Society of America who trained numerous heroes, including Black Canary. Fans of the show will recall that Sara (Caity Lotz) aka The Canary gave her leather jacket to her sister, Laurel (Katie Cassidy) in what seemed to be a passing of the torch. Their father, Quentin (Paul Blackthorne) quipped, "Don't get any ideas."
Executive producer Marc Guggenheim told the following to TVLine about Laurel's arc in Season 3: "There will be some interactions with a new character that we haven't announced yet.... Her fans will be really, really happy." It seems, then, that Wildcat could start to train Laurel to be a crime fighter, as many fans believe she will eventually join Oliver (Stephen Amell) and the rest of the costumed crew in their crusade to save Starling City.
Ramirez starred on Emily Owens as Dr. Aquino, but he also appeared on Starz' Power, House of Payne and Hacienda Heights.
