WWE taped its Aug. 1, 2014 edition of Friday Night Smackdown in Corpus Christi, TX and the show begins with Jack Swagger (w/Zeb Colter) against Cesaro.
Cesaro almost wins the match but Swagger gets him to tap out to the Patriot Lock. Rusev and Lana then come out do do their usual anti-America, pro-Russia routine and to challenge Swagger to a Flag match at SummerSlam, which Colter accepts.
Randy Orton comes out to cut a promo and challenges Roman Reigns to a match at SummerSlam.
Dean Ambrose gets a match against Seth Rollins later in the night, but the catch is it's a two-on-one handicap match against Kane, as well.
R-Truth defeats Bo Dallas by disqualification when Bo refused to answer the referee's five-count in the ropes. He beats up R-Truth after the match to show more of his mean streak.
AJ Lee defeats Alicia Fox in a non-title match. Paige attacks AJ as the Divas Champion heads up the ramp and beats her so badly that medical personnel take her out on a stretcher.
Seth Rollins and Kane defeat Dean Ambrose by disqualification when Ambrose decides to pick up a chair and beat down Kane with it. Rollins turns tail and runs but Ambrose keeps attacking Kane.
Diego (w/Summer Rae and Layla) defeats Fandango after the two Divas distract their former flame.
Alberto Del Rio defeats Dolph Ziggler with the Cross Arm Breaker after The Miz, who was on commentary for the match, causes a distraction. Ziggler tries to go after the Intercontinental Champion but Del Rio locks in the submission for the win.
Chris Jericho defeats Erick Rowan. The stipulation for this match was Rowan would be banned from ringside at SummerSlam for Jericho's match against Bray Wyatt if Y2J beat him. The referee also sends Luke Harper to the back as soon as this match begins.
