You have to give it to Jimmy Kimmel; he's willing to do just about anything for a laugh –– even hurt himself. Last night, Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! to promote the upcoming Ping Pong 4 Purpose tournament. During his segment, the host chose to have some fun with the pitcher and test his skills by seeing if the athlete could knock an apple off the top of his head with a baseball.
Now, while the balls Kershaw uses in the below video aren't necessarily regulation baseballs, they can undoubtedly do some damage and "hurt his head" should they hit Kimmel in the face, as he mentioned.
Black eyes and headaches aside, however, he urges the pitcher, "Do your best, try not to hit me in the face ... and let's do this!"
The host then proceeds to don himself in nothing but a pair of safety glasses and the aforementioned apple, which he places directly atop his head, as he takes to his stool.
"I might have to close my eyes because I think I'm going to flinch if I see the ball coming," Kimmel says on the chair. And from the looks of it, that may have been a good idea.
Kershaw then winds up ...
Take a look at the clip below:
Sure, it took him four attempts – with the winning pitch hitting the host's face more than the apple itself – but let's look at the big picture: he did knock it off, right?
