With the Green Arrow hitting his stride with his own TV series, the CW network continues its winning streak with another TV series starring another DC Comics superhero. John Wesley Shipp, Tom Cavanagh, and Jesse L. Martin discuss what's coming up in the highly anticipated Arrow spinoff, The Flash.

In an interview with Comic Book Resources, the the TV stars sat down to discuss their characters and their story arcs. From what we know so far, Cavanagh plays Dr. Harrison Wells, who plays a major role in the development of Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) as hero. When Barry is stuck by lighting, Wells is caught in the lab's explosion. From the trailer, we see the S.T.A.R. Labs scientist is in the wheelchair.

The Ed star teases Well's motivations aren't what they appear to be. The character lives a life of "intrigue and deceit," which will be revealed at the end of the pilot.

The Law & Order actor plays the father of Iris West (Candice Patton). In the comics, West and Allen are destined to be together, but their love will always be tested. Detective West has become a surrogate father to Barry, which is why he's not fond of the two together.

Martin explains, "[Barry] spends so much time with my daughter, it's in my best interest to make sure nothing happens to him or her."

As reported here, the Dawson's Creek actor played the original Flash in the 90's TV series. In his return to the franchise, the Viper actor plays Barry Allen's father, Henry.

Shipp discusses how his comeback happened, "In this telling, Henry is wrongfully convicted of killing his wife in front of his 10-year-old son, and he's been in prison for 14 years. I thought, 'That's the role.' And then they called up and offered me that role and I was thrilled."
