As viewers anxiously await for the upcoming superhero Netflix series, the first set photos have been released of Marvel's Daredevil. Check out Charlie Cox (Boardwalk Empire) as the man without fear's alter ego, the blind lawyer, Matt Murdock.
In the Marvel Universe, Matt is struck blind after nearly being killed in a car accident. Though he was supposed to live in darkness, radioactive chemicals were spilled onto his eyes, giving him back his lost sight. Suddenly, Matt could do more than see and gazes at the world around him like a radar.
Comic Book Resources got the scoop on the first set photos. We see the Boardwalk Empire actor walking around in a gray suit, being filmed on location in New York. It makes sense to shoot the exterior scenes in the Big Apple because Daredevil's territory starts and ends with Hell's Kitchen.
This is a very different take than the previous live-action version of Daredevil. If you remember in the movie, the color red was bright and vibrant, especially Ben Affleck's glasses. The tone is actually darker here and the walking stick isn't so flashy.
If you notice closely in the pics, Cox is supposed to look like his character has taken a few hits. The side of face has a slight bruise, which his glasses can barely hide.
As reported here, showrunner Steven S. DeKnight is aiming for a gritty, 1970s feel. Judging by the snapshots, it certainly looks like that vision is being accomplished.
