Chinese actress Fan Bingbing had a small but rather cool role in Bryan Singer's X-Men: Days of Future Past. Now, the actress herself has revealed that she will be back for the 2016 sequel, X-Men: Apocalypse.
Bingbing spoke to TheStar.com through a translator and said that she will be around for the next four films in the X-Men franchise. "I am contracted to appear in the next four X-Men films and it's going to be really amazing," she said. "In 14 years since the X-Men films started, this is the first time an Asian mutant is in the film. So, it's going to be really interesting. In the comics, Blink is a Caucasian girl, so I was curious why Bryan wanted an Asian to play the role. He said that it's time for Blink to make an appearance and, for her debut she has to be simply marvelous. It was an offer I couldn't refuse."
Far be it for me to correct Bingbing, but she was not the first Asian mutant to appear in the movies, as Kelly Hu starred as Lady Deathstrike in the forgettable X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Unless, of course, she meant the first Asian member of the actual X-Men team.
Are you pleased to hear that Fan Bingbing will return in X-Men Apocalypse? Are you surprised to hear she will be in the next four movies, or even that there will be four more movies at all? Let us know your thoughts and opinions in the comments below.
