Batman vs Superman Dawn of Justice Release Date Moved, Plus Warner Bros. Announces Nine New DC Comics Movies

This has been a busy week for Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice news, which continued to pour out on Wednesday. The first bit of news details who blinked first in the staring contest between Marvel and DC on the weekend of May 6, 2016.

Both Captain America 3 and Dawn of Justice had scheduled May 6 release dates, but Warner Bros. and DC decided to make a move that benefits themselves and the fans. The superhero blockbuster featuring the Man of Steel and the Dark Knight will now hit theaters, in 2D and 3D, about six weeks earlier on March 25, 2016. This is a smart move for both parties, as Captain America: The Winter Soldier grossed more than $700 million worldwide and the third movie will have The Avengers: Age of Ultron as a lead-in.

WB also announced nine (yes, nine) DC movies through 2020. The list is as follows:

-       Untitled DC Film on June 23, 2017

-       Untitled DC Film on Nov. 17, 2017

-       Untitled DC Film on March 23, 2018

-       Untitled DC Film on July 27, 2018

-       Untitled WB Event Film on Nov 16, 2018

-       Untitled DC Film on April 5, 2019

-       Untitled DC Film on June 14, 2019

-       Untitled DC Film on April 3, 2020

-       Untitled DC Film on June 19, 2020

-       Untitled WB Event Film on Nov, 20, 2020

Any guesses as to the identities of these movies would be purely speculative a this point, but it's possible the "Event" films are Justice League team-ups. TheWrap suggests Aquaman, Sandman, Shazam/Black Adam and Wonder Woman are among the slate.
