The CW network has released a new trailer featuring the titled DC Comics superhero. After months of teasing, not only do we get to see Grant Gustin in costume as The Flash, we also get a chance to see the special effects of the Arrow spinoff.
The last time the "fastest man alive" was last seen, actor John Wesley Shipp was playing the speedster in the mid-90s. The effects team did the best they could under a tight budget. Superhero/comic book dramas weren't as mainstream as they are today.
Notice when Barry Allen (Gustin) is running, his entire world seems to slow down around him. It's almost as if everyone is trying to catch up to him. Notice how the effects team leaves traces of lighting in the Flash's trail.
The video also takes us through how Barry visually sees the streets in his POV. Because our hero is young and hasn't hit his prime yet, he seems almost in awe of his superpowers. That's why we can hear him cheering just as he is about to run away.
Not only has CGI changed the visual medium, alterations have been made to the red costume. The mask appears to be more of helmet in this version. The color red is darker in tone and not too bright, like in the comics.

The Flash will premiere October 7 on the CW at 8pm. Readers, what do you think of Grant Gustin's costume?
