The Aug. 11, 2014 edition ofWE's Monday Night Raw will emanate live from the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon and will serve as the go-home show for the SummerSlam pay-per-view on Sunday.
Tonight's broadcast will feature the first face-to-face interaction between WWE World Heavyweight Champion John Cena and the challenger, Brock Lesnar, since The Beast and Paul Heyman returned to announce the title match at SummerSlam. Cena and Lesnar have not been in the same building since Triple H made the match official, so there's no doubt sparks will fly and punches will be thrown when the two are in the same ring Monday night.
Anyone who saw the Lesnar-Cena feud from 2012 remembers the entire locker room coming out to separate the two men before their match at Extreme Rules that year. Could we see a similar situation tonight? What will Heyman say to try to get under Cena's skin or into his head?
WWE will also hold a celebration for Hulk Hogan's 61st birthday during tonight's show. Obviously the Hulkster will be in attendance, but WWE has also teased some surprise guests for the festivities. Scott Hall has teased an nWo reunion on Twitter, which would mean Kevin Nash would be involved, as well. Other rumors say "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair could show up for Hogan's birthday.
Stephanie McMahon and Brie Bella have closed out Raw for the last two weeks. That's not likely to happen tonight given the confrontation between Cena and Lesnar, but we will likely see some sort of interaction between the two women prior to their match on Sunday. Will Stephanie go after Brie directly, or will she torment her sister, Nikki Bella, some more? By the way, rumors say Brie, who has not had a match in months, and Stephanie have been putting in intense training in order to put on the best match possible on Sunday.
Dean Ambrose cost Seth Rollins the chance to pick the stipulation for their match at SummerSlam last week on Raw during a Beat the Clock Challenge. On Friday Night Smackdown, Ambrose revealed the two would square off in a Lumberjack Match on Sunday. Will we learn the identities of some of the lumberjacks tonight? It seems likely this is where WWE would put all the wrestlers who don't have a match on the card on Sunday (The Usos, Cesaro, Sheamus, etc.), but we'll find out soon.
Now that we know the match type, will Ambrose continue to haunt his former friend? We've seen him pop out of the trunk of his car, blindside him backstage and even come through the crowd just to pour soda and popcorn inside Rollins' Money in the Bank briefcase. What other surprises could Ambrose have in store tonight?
Chris Jericho will once again face Bray Wyatt on Sunday in a rematch from Battleground last month. This time, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan are banned from ringside, so Y2J and the Eater of Worlds will truly square off one-on-one. Jericho managed to beat Wyatt even with the Wyatts at ringside last time, so how will Bray address their absence at SummerSlam?
Finally, AJ Lee will once again defend her Divas Championship against Paige, while Dolph Ziggler gets a shot at The Miz for the Intercontinental Championship at SummerSlam. Rusev will also take on Jack Swagger in a Flag Match with Lana and Zeb Colter at ringside. Will see some confrontations between any of these pairings on tonight's Raw?
