Though actor Robin Williams passed away too soon, this talented thespian managed to break into the television and cinematic landscape through many memorable roles. Whether he was the deeply moving teacher in Dead Poets Society to the hilarious advertising agent in The Crazy Ones, Williams always left an indelible stamp in his performances.

Whether he was being comedic or dramatic, the Good Will Hunting actor scored an Oscar in the breakthrough film of Matt Damon and Ben Affleck's career. Here are our top 5 performances in Williams' versatile career.

5) Insomnia

In Christopher Nolan's thriller, Williams held his own when standing next to the legendary icon, Al Pacino. In the cat-and-mouse game between killer and cop, Walter Finch (Williams) tries to blackmail Will Dormer (Pacino) and getaway with murder. Williams has to be scary as the vicious murderer while being charismatic to fool others.

4) Happy Days

It was Williams' standout performance in Happy Days that caught the attention of producers. In his improvisational skits with Arrested Development alums, Henry Winkler and Ron Howard, Williams stole the show and numerous laughs from the audience. This gig landed him the starring role of Mork & Mindy.

3) Aladdin

Williams was a laugh-riot in the animated Disney feature, Aladdin. As Genie, the Happy Feet actor did as many impressions as he could in one single character. Not only was his comedic timing perfect, but he could also sing in the song, 'Friend Like Me.'

2) The Crazy Ones

This was Williams return to television and he couldn't have asked for a better cast. Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy The Vampire Slayer) played the loyal but long-suffering daughter of advertising great, Simon Roberts (Williams). In his last work, the two were hilarious in their scenes together.

1) Dead Poets Society

Who wouldn't want a teacher as funny and inspiring as John Keating (Williams)? Keating would teach Shakespeare while doing an impression of western hero John Wayne. His students stood by him and gave her a thoughtful farewell at the end.

Robin Williams will surely be missed, but he leaves a long-lasting list of memorable performances in film and television. Readers, what's your favorite movie starring Williams?
