The NFL has suspended football player Orlando Scandrick for the first four games of the season. The Dallas Cowboys cornerback has been banned for testing positive for MDMA, known as the performance enhancing drug, "Molly."
According to ESPN sources, the drugs were taken when the 27 year old was vacationing in Mexico with an ex-girlfriend. Allegedly, she slipped the substance, widely known as 'ecstasy,' into the cocktail they were drinking. This is reportedly why the sports athlete failed a drug test back in April.
Scandrick released a statement to the press declaring, "I take full responsibility for what goes in my body and more importantly, for the embarrassment of a failed drug test. It's my goal by issuing this statement to clear my name and more importantly to be judged by what happens to me in the future." The suspended player continues, "I hope that my family, my Cowboys football family, and all my fans can forgive me for this situation."
Will the Cowboys lose 4 games in a row when the season starts? With DeMarcus Ware and Jason Hatcher having switched teams in the offseason, and linebacker Sean Lee suffering from injury, things look pretty bad for the team already. Football fans can only ask, What will Scandrick's absence cost the Cowboys defense?
Seems like the Dallas Cowboys can't go a day without being in the headlines. Cowboys owner and manager Jerry Jones is still being hounded by the tabloids for his rendezvous with scantily-clad strippers 5 years ago.
For testing positive for drug use, Orlando Scandrink has been banned for the first 4 games, threatening the Dallas Cowboys defense? Readers, do you think the Cowboys still stand a chance this season?
