Terry Crews 'Luke Cage' Casting Rumors: Will 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' Star Join Charlie Cox In 'Marvel's Daredevil?'

With Marvel's Daredevil already in production, the search continues to find the perfect alter egos to the spinoff series on Netflix. Actor Terry Crews (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) is in the running to play the Marvel Comics superhero, Luke Cage aka Carl Lucas.

In the Marvel Universe, Carl is framed for a crime he didn't commit. Wanting to get revenge for the alleged drug bust, the wrongly accused criminal volunteers for an experimental treatment at the prison. The chemical compounds end up giving him superhuman strength and durability. As reported here, Cage plays a pivotal role in the AXIS crossover event.

In an interview with Digital Spy, while promoting his upcoming action flick Expendables 3, the Everybody Hates Chris comedian has already been offered by Marvel to play the role. The question is timing, especially since his award-winning Brooklyn Nine-Nine is about to start its second season.

Crews would be "privileged and honored" to play the comic book character, explaining, "I'm waiting for a call from Marvel. I haven't heard anything but if I could, if it worked into the schedule, and legally if it could work out, I'm booked for awhile."

We also mentioned that filming for Marvel's Daredevil has already taken place in New York. Charlie Cox has already dressed up as Matt Murdock, the blind lawyer. Imagine if these two actors in a scene together, playing their superhero roles.

The Old Spice commercial actor adds, "I'm really really glad it got the green light. Whoever plays it, I'll be happy to see it. And I'll be really happy to see me play it."

Somebody please make this casting happen.
