Based on the sci-fi classic, Alien, from director Ridley Scott, the unstoppable space killer continues its reign of terror in the highly anticipated videogame, Alien: Isolation. At the recent Gamescom convention, two new videos, the cinematic trailer and the gameplay preview, have been released showing the intense graphics and suspenseful atmosphere.
As we reported here, in the horror videogame, Amanda Ripley is searching in the darkness of outer-space for her long-lost mother, Ellen Ripley. In the aftermath of the events from the flick, Amanda is searching for the truth behind Nostromo's missing crew. During her investigation, the mother/daughter reunion is put on hold when an evil alien creature steps foot inside her stranded spaceship.
In the trailer, you can tell the '70s filmmaking process had an influence on the game design. Though this is supposed to be set in the future, the technology is bulky, rough around the edges, and low-tech at times. Notice in the footage, Amanda is holding a toy robot tightly in her hands, because she needs the battery for her scanner.

GT News was on hand at Gamescom to give the horror/survival game a quick run-through. Notice the detail that went into to create the moody atmosphere of the darkly lit corridors. The player has to hide quickly through the smoke-filled hallways as the alien is close behind, chasing after you.
