Because these superheroes are all set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, should movie-goers be expecting a few of the popular characters to crossover? With Marvel's Agent Carter getting tons of buzz, thanks to San Diego Comic-Con, will actress Hayey Atwell show up in the highly anticipated Ant-Man?
From what we know about the plot so far, based on the comics books, scientist Hank Pym (played by Michael Douglas) discovers a chemical substance that allows him to alter his size. After retiring his superhero suit, con artist Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) picks up the reigns because he wants to move away from his criminal lifestyle.
According to Latino-Review, when director Edgar Wright (The World's End) was at the helm of the project, the Shaun of the Dead scribe inserted some Marvel personas into his screenplay. In the first act, Pym (Douglas) has a top-secret meeting at S.H.I.E.L.D with Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper), Peggy Carter (Atwell), and a young Alexander Pierce (Robert Redford's character in Captain America: The Winter Solider).
Now that director Peyton Reed (Bring It On) has stepped in after Wright's fallout with Marvel, will screenwriter Adam McKay (The Other Guys) bring that opening scene back in his revision? Will we possibly see Atwell acting alongside with with Oscar-winning Wall Street actor?
While all signs point to no, we have reported here that some of the biggest names in cinema, including Captain America: The First Avenger filmmaker Joe Johnston, are returning for the small screen to champion ABC's upcoming spy/adventure series. Why wouldn't we see the leading lady back on the big screen, just like she did in The Winter Solider?
If Marvel was planning on bringing in a younger Alexander Pierce for the big screen, wouldn't they also do the same for the TV series?
Ant-Man is expected to hit theaters on July 17, 2015. Readers, do you think this crossover will happen?
