As the first season of FX's The Strain has progressed, we have watched the two characters, Vasiliy Fet and Ephraim Goodweather, on separate tracks, but following the same vampire infection. When will the alter egos of actors Kevin Durand (Lost) and Corey Stoll (House of Cards) meet in the upcoming episodes?
In our recent recaps, Fet (Durand) discovers the underground rat population is running away from the sewers. Something is scaring the rodents away from their darkly-lit home. When the exterminator heads into the watery tunnels, he barely makes it out alive when confronted with an army of flesh-eating vampires.
In the Dark Horse Comics adaptation, the exterminator and the epidemiologist Goodweather (Stoll) are destined to meet in an unexpected confrontation. The two stick together to take down the ancient evil, known only as The Master.
In an interview with Variety, the Ant-Man actor reveals when the two characters team-up, "It takes a while. I think it's episode eight that our characters first cross paths, and that relationship starts at its most contentious." Stoll continues, "We really are forced together under the worst circumstances. And the triumvirate of me, him, and Setrakian (David Bradley), and the way those relationships sort of bounce off each other is really fun."
Interestingly, in the comics, the two protagonists get along perfectly. Differing itself from the source material, from what Stoll is saying, the TV series will possibly present Fett and Goodweather at odds with each other. In a previous episode, the ratcatcher's boss even admits his lone wolf has a difficult time getting along with others.
As reported here, FX has renewed The Strain for a second season. Let's hope we see more of Durand and Stoll in the same scene together.
