WWE taped the August 22, 2014 edition of Friday Night SmackDown earlier this week and the show features a rematch from last week's main event.
The show begins with Randy Orton, who cuts a promo about how Roman Reigns won the battle at SummerSlam, but The Viper will win the war. He also says he would beat Rob Van Dam in their match later in the night.
Seth Rollins defeats Jack Swagger by count out after Mr. Money in the Bank hits a Curb Stomp to Swagger outside the ring and the Real American could not answer the 10 count. Zeb Colter is still out selling the injury from SummerSlam. After the match, Bo Dallas comes out and talks to Swagger again. He says he will take over Swagger's spot as "America's sweetheart."
Corporate Kane is in charge and he sets up a match between Reigns and The Miz for the main event in a rematch from last week's show closer.
Rusev squashes Sin Cara. Mark Henry comes out after the match but Lana calls off Rusev.
Renee Young interviews RVD but Orton attacks him. Their match is short and ends in a double count out as The Viper just beats the tar out of RVD for a while. RVD needs help to get backstage after the attack.
Renee then interviews Reigns and he promises to go after Rollins for what he did to Dean Ambrose on Monday Night Raw earlier in the week.
Natalya defeats Paige in a non-title match with the Sharpshooter thanks to another distraction from AJ Lee. AJ comes out and steals Paige's Divas Championship, so the champ runs after her to get it back. She just beats the 10 count back into the ring but Nattie greets her with the Sharpshooter and Paige taps while AJ taunts her.
Goldust and Stardust defeat Luke Harper and Erick Rowan. After the match, the two Wyatt Family members beat down the Dust Brothers and stand tall.
Reigns defeats The Miz in a very short match. Orton attacks after the bell and brawls with Reigns, who gets the upper hand and stands tall as the show goes off the air.
