Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson continues to do a press tour in South America to promote his movie Hercules, and the actor again dropped some more information about the DC Comics' Shazam movie and his role in it.
The actor spoke to Brazilian website Omelette and revealed he wanted to announce the movie at San Diego Comic-Con this year, but the studio decided to wait. "My trip to Comic-Con was a surprise, so I called personally to executives at New Line and Warner Bros. to see if they would like to announce Shazam there," Johnson said (via Google Translate). "Unfortunately, it was not time yet, but the official announcement should happen soon."
Johnson then talked about the history of the project and the delay in getting it off the ground. He said he is 100% sure the movie will happen and that he and the studio have been discussing it since 2008, when they offered him the role for the first time. The delay came from waiting for the right script, which finally happened. Johnson said the writer understands the story and brought an amazing approach to both Shazam and Black Adam.
The Rock has been talking about this role a lot recently, so an official announcement hopefully comes sooner rather than later. For more, check out the full interview here.
