Marvel Comics continues filmmaker George A. Romero's epic supernatural war between humans, vampires, and zombies in Empire of the Dead: Act Two #1. Acclaimed artist Dailbor Talajic joins in on the bloody carnage as they unleash Hell across the streets of New York City.

Horror fans everywhere may recognize Romero's name as the zombie godfather who scared audiences with the cult classic, Night of the Living Dead. Made for a low budget  of $114,000, the Living Dead franchise made millions and spawned numerous sequels, including the latest installment, Survival of the Dead. Now Romero puts his undead touch on the comic book realm with his latest terrifying project.

While zombie wrangler Paul Barnum has added new flesh-eating performers to his growing Circus Maximus, Mayor Chandrake feels his control on the city slip away as his nephew Billy attempts to overtake his throne. Scientist Penny Jones believes there is more to the flesh-eaters as they seem to getting smarter as each day passes. The struggle for power leads to the arrival of the Southern militia.

In an interview with Marvel, Romero explains the themes that connect the major players in the story, "They all want what they want, whether it's right or wrong. So I don't think you're going to see a lot of blinking. There's too much at stake for anyone to give up." The Dawn of the Dead director continues, "Power. Greed. Co-existence. Survival. It's going to be a fight to the finish."

As the undead onslaught rages on, which side will ultimately win the war and take hold of the Bg Apple?

Empire of the Dead: Act Two #1 hits stores everywhere on September 10. Readers, are you excited to see what horror master George A. Romero has in store in the war between vampires, humans, and  zombies?
