Returning to the role that made her a household name amongst sci-fi/horror fans, actress Sigourney Weaver returns as the tough heroine, Ellen Ripley. The Avatar actress discusses what compelled her to return to the long-awaited Alien franchise, not on the big screen but to the upcoming videogame, Alien: Isolation.

As previously mentioned, Amanda Ripley is searching in the vastness darkness of outer-space for her long-lost mother. The truth behind Nostromo's missing crew is suddenly put on hold when her spaceship becomes stranded in mid-voyage, Like mother, like daughter, Amanda has to save herself from the unstoppable killing machine lurking in the darkly-lit corridors.

We also reported that gamers have a chance to order the 'Nostromo Edition.' In the DLC package, players will have to go through two missions, 'Crew Expendable,' and 'Last Survivor.' Gamers will recreate the climactic scene where Ripley (Weaver) has to self-destruct the ship while the alien creature is right behind her.

In an interview with Bloody-Disgusting, Weaver explains her decision to return to familiar footsteps, "Other people have tried to funnel Alien into games, and what I think is arresting about Alien: Isolation is that it has its own original story. It's very faithful to the first film while going in a whole new direction for people; if I may say, in an emotional direction."

The game designers chose to keep the 70's influential look, even keeping Weaver's hairstyle intact. The sci-fi aspects are meant to be clunky and retro.

The Ghostbusters actress discusses the little details in the gameplay, "It was actually a little hair-raising for me to walk through the corridor I hadn't walked through for 35 years and to see Ridley Scott's little bird that goes back-and-forth, and some of the weird little touches that the creators have put in the environment."
