Writer/director Joss Whedon and Marvel Studios President of Production Kevin Feige sat down with Empire Magazine (via Comic Book Movie) and spoke about the villainous robot in The Avengers: Age of Ultron, among other things.
Firstly, here's how Whedon described the film and its main antagonist. "It's more epic and in other ways it's more noir-ish and suspect and devious and specific," he said. "Ultron...he's got a touch of the apocalypse in him." Feige then offered some interesting insight on the character and Whedon's approach. "Ultron was the villain Joss wanted, from midway through production on the first film, to have serious repercussions for The Avengers," he said. "We unveiled a poster here which is nothing but Ultron after Ultron after Ultron clawing at the beginning to defeat all of our Avengers. That's what a lot of this movie is about."
Empire then asked about the footage at Comic-Con, which showed The Hulk fighting Iron Man in his Hulkbuster suit. Feige simply said, 'It's a bespoke suit. The back-up plan in case things go awry." But Whedon offered a bit more and touched on the relationship between "Science Bros" Tony Stark and Bruce Banner. "The Hulkbuster is from after my time [as a reader], but even I knew what a big deal it was. It makes sense because there's no one who can really go up against Hulk, but more importantly, those guys are best friends, so what that battle is and what it means is fascinating to me."
Empire also posted a great look at Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, which you can see at the top of the page. The photo also contains Whedon in a battle stance of some kind.
