Dan Brown's books are remarkable bestsellers that have turned into a film franchise starring Tom Hanks as Robert Langdon. But we haven't heard about a new project since the success of The Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons - until now! Ron Howard and Hanks are re-teaming in April of 2015 to start filming Inferno.

Deadline was the first to break this news:

In Inferno, Langdon awakens in an Italian hospital with amnesia. He teams up with Sienna Brooks, the doctor he hopes will help him recover his memories and prevent a madman from releasing a global plague connected to Dante's Inferno. The previous installment of the Langdon franchise, 2009's Angels & Demons, grossed $486 million worldwide. They skipped over the next book in Brown's series, The Lost Symbol.

Fans of the Langdon books by Dan Brown will probably be okay with skipping over The Lost Symbol movie adaptation. Readers know that it is a bit slower than the others and that jumping right to Inferno is a great choice for Sony, Howard and Hanks.

Brown took to his Facebook page to announce this news and his excitement.

"Thrilled to share the news that Sony Pictures and Imagine Entertainment have firmed an April start in Italy on Inferno! Tom Hanks will reprise his role as Robert Langdon," he said.

Inferno has a release date set for December 18, 2015.
