As the 40th season of Saturday Night Live approaches (yes, the 40th season), the legendary sketch show is getting ready by adding some fresh faces to the line up –– at least, in the writers' room, that is.

Splitsider reports that SNL has just hired comedian Alison Rich to write for the show's upcoming season. Rich made her mark at the Upright Citizens Brigade theater (UCB) in New York City before heading out west to show her talents on the CBS Diversity Showcase.

The young talent has won her fair share of prizes over the years, from the UCB NBC Diversity Showcase back in 2012 to the IFC "Out of the Box" development deal at the New York Television Festival because of a web series of her creation titled Incognito. The series was created alongside Late Night with Seth Meyers writer Andrew Law.

Rich's experience in producing various series for the internet is rather impressive, and certainly doesn't go unnoticed, considering she'll be appearing in the forthcoming Elizabeth Banks-produced online series Resident Advisors as well as Peaked, a web series she co-created for MTV with Nicole Byer.

In the past, Rich has written for the likes of Billy on the Street and shown her comedic chops on shows such as Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, IFC's Bunk and Best Week Ever.
