Social Distortion released their newest video for "Gimme the Sweet and Lowdown," off of their 2011 album "Hard Times and Nursery Rhymes." The awesome cartoon animated video (the band's first) was co-produced with help from the "Madtwins" sister duo Olya and Vera Ishchuk.
The video follows the life struggles of a boy-turned-man as he faces such villains including drugs and alcohol. The young man eventually finds himself at a Social Distortion show after leaving jail and chased by a dark, axe-wielding grim reaper, where he meets his true love. According to front man Mike Ness in a statement made to Rolling Stone:
"The idea behind [the song] was a lifestyle gone wrong due to really bad life decisions. I never intended for it to be autobiographical, but now with this visual, I realize that it actually is more about me than it seemed when I wrote it."
Check out the video below, which features a neat animated tattoo collection of a number of rock and roll and rebel legends, including Johnny Cash and Joey Ramone.
