Chelsea Clinton, the daughter of former U.S. President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hilary Clinton, will be leaving her reporter job at NBC News. Not only will the ex-employee be hard at work at the Clinton Foundation, she and husband Marc Mezvinsky are expecting their first child together.
Since working with NBC network in 2011, the ex-president's daughter was initially hired to do stories for Brian Williams' Rock Center. Then her feature stories were focused on people or community organizations doing humanitarian work. Her reports included a school program for jailed teenagers, an Arkansas tutoring program and a restaurant that donates leftover food to the homeless.
In the spring, the former first daughter and her husband,Mezvinsky, announced her pregnancy with her first child. On her official Facebook account, the New York resident wrote a lengthy post, explaining her departure as the NBC special correspondent.
While stating her reasons for leaving, Clinton adds, "It's been a privilege to be part of the NBC Family. I admire the work and dedication that their reporters, producers, crews, editors and studio teams deliver every day, particularly as I personally experienced through the stewardship of Brian Williams at Nightly News and Rock Center."
Her departure comes at a time when there have been rapid rumors of her mother running for presidency again in 2016. Politics aside, the newbie mother will be busy taking care of her first child, which comes with a lot of responsibilities. We wish the proud parents all the best with their new baby.
Chelsea Clinton will be leaving her job at NBC News, concentrating more on the Clinton Foundation and her first child. Readers, what do you think of Chelsea's reasons for resigning?
