Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns to ABC this fall for Season 2, and the sophomore season will pick up with Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) as director of the reborn spy organization.
TVLine has posted its Fall TV spoiler spectacular, and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is one of the entries on the list. The site reports on several components of Season 2, so let's see what they have to say:
"'In a word, yes' - ABC's S.H.I.E.L.D. will maintain the momentum it built at the close of a long-simmering Season 1, says EP Jeff Bell. 'Once we could say the word HYDRA, it's been a sprint, and we're planning to just keep sprinting.' As the newly named director of the broken S.H.I.E.L.D., Coulson 'will have to make some hard decisions,' as Nick Fury regularly did, 'but unofficially, on the run and with people gunning for him,' says Bell.
The season opener will efficiently address the many burning Qs in play, including, 'We've caught Ward, but what does that mean?' as well as lingering Coulson/May trust issues, Skye's paternity (hi, Kyle MacLachlan!) and the amped-up Fitz/Simmons tension. 'As storytellers, I think we deliver,' Bell says, 'which is cool.'"
The site also has some bonus scoop on a certain Warrior Princess' appearance on the show. "Genre-TV goddess Lucy Lawless' recurring character, S.H.I.E.L.D. vet Isabelle Hartley, is a woman to be reckoned with - 'as is Lucy Lawless,' says Bell. 'She plays a big personality.'"
