Joan Rivers underwent a routine vocal cord surgery last week at the Yorkville Endoscopy center on the Upper East Side in Manhattan but stopped breathing on the table and suffered from both cardiac and respiratory arrests. Well it looks like now this case is being looked into by the NY Health Department.

According to TMZ, the health officials are now "reviewing" the details in the case. According to insiders, the Department of Health has reached out to the endoscopy center two different times since the incident occurred last Thursday.

The producer that Joan underwent was to fix her damaged vocal cords.

While the officials are "reviewing the matter," they have not yet started an official investigating into the incident. The review could possibly be completed in a few weeks or could even take a few months.

The Health Department has been looking at the Yorkville clinic as a whole rather than singling out the specific doctors who were involved with the incident.

We previously reported that Joan has been moved from the ICU to a private room, but is still on life support.

Joan's daughter, Melissa Rivers, spoke out about her mother's condition yesterday in a statement

"My mother has been moved out of intensive care and into a private room where she is being kept comfortable," Melissa stated. "Thank you for your continued support."

The star's condition remains serious but an insider spoke to E! News and said that "everyone is hopeful and taking it day by day."

Our thoughts and prayers continue to go out to Joan and her family during this difficult time.
