With Marvel's Daredevil already in production, viewers are anxiously waiting to binge-watch the superhero series on Netflix. Before we see footage of Charlie Cox in costume as the titled Marvel Comics superhero, actor Vincent D'Onofrio talks about the tone of the show and filling in the "scary" role of Wilson Fisk, aka The Kingpin.
Previously we saw the Boardwalk Empire actor walking around the streets of New York in a fancy suit. In the closeups, we see the side of Cox's face covered in bruises. We also mentioned a set photo starring Elden Henson (The Huger Games: Mockingjay) and Deborah Ann Woll (True Blood) as their comic book counterparts, Froggy Nelson and Karen Page.
We still have yet to see Vincent D'Onofrio as The Kingpin, but until we do, let's take take this moment and see how his performance will be different from the late Michael Clarke Duncan. In an interview with Men's Journal, the Men in Black actor admits he drew inspiration from Frank Miller's run on the series.
When the Sin City scribe was working on the title with artist Klaus Janson in the '80s, the man without fear faced such urban crime storylines as teens pushing drugs. Readers were surprised when the creators killed off the popular character, Elektra, in a bloody battle against Bullseye.
D'Onofrio describes filming his scenes as gritty, while also adding, "This Netflix series that we're filming right now, it's going to be so amazing to watch. We're doing these incredible, iconic scenes every single day." The Cell actor continues, "I have the best character; I play one of the best characters I've read in a long time. I haven't had this much fun with a role for many years."
The Law & Order: Criminal Intent actor even showed off a picture of himself, dressed as Fisk, to Iron Man himself, Robert Downey Jr.
Marvel's Daredevil will premiere on Netflix in May 2015. Readers, are you excited to see the photo of Vincent D'Onofrio as The Kingpin?
