Kim Kardashian Reveals Which Celebrities Helped Her Name Daughter North

Not many people can say that longtime Vogue Editor-in-Chief was a deciding factor in the naming of their baby. Reality star Kim Kardashian tells British GQ that Anna Wintour encouraged her and hubby Kanye West to name their daughter North West.

With the fashion guru's approval, another celebrity took a strong liking of the name as well. This is when the buzz of the name North West became a reality for the famous couple.

"I remember this is actually where we decided, finally on North as a name for our baby girl." Kardashian explained. "It was a rumor in the press and we'd never really considered it seriously, at all, but Kanye and I were having lunch right over there at that table about a year ago and Pharrell [Williams] came over to us and said 'Oh, my God, are you guys really going to call your daughter North? That is the best name.' I said no we're not, that's just a rumor."

The name did confuse many when it first went public. Was North West like the direction? Was this some sort of joke? But, no Kim said the name just seemed to stick.

"Anna Wintour came over and asked the same thing. She told us 'North' is a genius name.' Kanye and I looked at one another and just laughed. I guess at that pont it sort of stuck," she said.

In December 2012 Kardashian and West announced that they were pregnant with North. In June 2013 the couple welcomed their daughter at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles five weeks earlier then expected. The couple wed on May 24 in a paparazzi crawling wedding at Fort di Belvedere in Florence, Italy.
