KaBOOM!, an imprint from the award-winning BOOM! Studios, presents an all-new enchanting comic book series for all-ages. Writer/artist Roger Langridge is bringing readers a fantastical coming-of-age tale, Abigail and the Snowman, and to mark the occasion, artist Sonny Lieu will be illustrating a variant cover for the first issue.
Langridge is the remarkable illustrator who has done The Muppet Show Comic Book, capturing the best representation of Jim Henson's classic characters. The Popeye writer has another project with Archaia Entertainment coming up, entitled Jim Henson's The Musical Monsters of Turkey Hollow. If you loved his previous creator-owned projects, then you're in a special treat indeed.
Kiew gained prominence with his Marvel Comics adaptation of Sense and Sensibility. Notice the different artistic styles in the covers. Langridge is more child-like while Kiew brings in more of a Maurice Sendak feel, like a page straight out of Where the Wild Things Are.
In the four-issue miniseries, 9-year-old girl named Abigail moves to a small town. Because she is the new girl in school, the hyper active child is struggling to make friends. All that loneliness changes when she meets a Yeti named Claude, who has escaped a top-secret government facility. Abigail and Claude quickly become the best of friends, but will he truly be free from the "Shadow Men?"
Abigail and the Snowman #1 will be released in stores sometime in December. Readers, don't you think this would make a perfect Christmas gift?
