The Sept. 8, 2014 edition of WWE's Monday Night Raw will emanate live from the Baltimore Arena in Baltimore and will continue the build to Night of Champions on Sept. 21. After two critically panned episodes of Raw in a row, how will tonight's show unfold?
WWE has announced two major SummerSlam rematches for tonight's show. Firstly, Chris Jericho will take on Bray Wyatt inside a steel cage. The last time Wyatt was in a cage, he needed the help of the entire Wyatt Family and a singing child to take out John Cena. Will he be able to get the job done against Y2J by himself tonight, or will he need outside interference to take out the Ayatollah of Rock and Rollah?
Roman Reigns will also take on Randy Orton once again. The two fought at SummerSlam and Reigns came out on top after a spear. But will Orton go down again tonight, or will the veteran find a way to stop the rising star in his tracks? By the way, rumors hold that these two matches are not blowoffs to the feuds, but will instead set up matches at Night of Champions. We shall see.
WWE has also advertised the appearance of Jerry Springer to moderate a segment between Brie Bella and Nikki Bella, who are currently at odds. This is an interesting choice to say the least because Jerry Springer was at the height of his cultural relevance when Bill Clinton was still in office, but we'll see how the segment goes. We already know Nikki will be in a Triple Threat match for the Divas Championship at Night of Champions with Paige and AJ Lee, so how will Brie get involved?
John Cena is on a collision course with WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar for his rematch in two weeks, and so far the leader of the Cenation has done all he can to prove he is ready for the match. He's expressed confidence in his words and he's taken care of business in the ring. But is it enough to slay The Beast Incarnate?
Cena will be on the show tonight, but Lesnar once again will not be, which means it falls to Paul Heyman to carry the load for his client. Will he once again try to get inside Cena's head and make the 15-time champion doubt himself? If so, will Cena have an appropriate response, or will he continue with his usual "Never Give Up" routine?
As per the theme of the pay-per-view, the rest of the belts will be defended at Night of Champions and all the title matches are set. The Usos will defend the WWE Tag Team Championships against Goldust and Stardust, who have shown an aggressive mean streak in assaulting the champions the last two weeks on Raw. Will they continue to soften up the Usos before the pay-per-view, or will the Samoan brothers strike back at the gold-painted siblings?
Dolph Ziggler will defend his Intercontinental Championship against The Miz, who has been doing some impressive heel work lately. He's been the cowardly heel who won't let anyone hit him in the face (aka the "moneymaker"), and now he actually has a stunt double in Damien Sandow (or should we say Damien Mizdow) to substitute for him when the going gets tough. Does this mean Sandow will help Miz recapture the title? How will Miz and Ziggler interact tonight?
Sheamus will also defend the United States Championship against Cesaro. This should be a great fight between the two Europeans, but which of the two will get the upper hand tonight less than two weeks before their match?
