In the first Monday Night Football match of the season, the Detroit Lions staked a noteworthy win over the New York Giants in their 35-14 victory. Not only did the Lions steal the show from the Giants, NBA sports stars LeBron James and Kevin Durant had something to say on their official Twitter accounts, praising the seven passes and two surprising touchdowns by wide receiver, Calvin Johnson.
Though James and Durant have grown up with basketball, they do know when a player deserves recognition for their skills on the field. According to ESPN, the Lions' quarterback, Matthew Stafford, sharpened his footwork and connected with his receiver, who had his own nifty moves.
The first touchdown came from a 67-yard strike. Stafford faked out Giants' Damontre Moore, causing his opponent to take a tumble in the backfield. Johnson was already ahead behind of the Giants' defense when Stafford threw the football. Once he caught the pass in his hands, Johnson ran straight to make the score.
On his official Twitter, James writes, "Megatron strikes once again! #Beast #MyFavPlayerInWorld"
The second touchdown was an impressive dive that no one expected. Again, its Stafford with the amazing pass. An inch closer and the Giants player would have made the interception, catching the throw. Luckily, Johnson was right there, taking the spectacular dive.
Blown away by the play, Durant tweets, "You know you sick at what u do when we call you Megatron. #Tripleteamkiller #justcloseyoureyesandthrowitup #bestwideoutever"
Johnson definitely deserved the admiration from these athletes after last night's game.
LeBron James and Kevin Durant had nothing but praise for Detroit Lions' wide receiver, Clavin Johnson, Readers, what did you think of the Lions vs Giants match?
