The Dallas Cowboys are supposed to be America's team, but nothing seems to go quite right for them as of late in the NFL. The team have Super Bowl aspirations, but then again, they also have the drama that Jerry Jones and Tony Romo bring to the franchise, too. The Cowboys have failed to make the playoffs in heartbreaking fashion for three seasons in a row, and the entire organization are desperate to put end to that drought, but there's yet more drama to be resolved as Romo has yet again raised doubts about his ability, and Jones is facing a legal battle, with a woman claiming he sexually assaulted her.
Jana Weckerly, a former dancer, claims that Jones assaulted her in 2009. However, Jones' lawyer has hit back at those claims:
"These allegations are completely false. The legal complaint is unsupported by facts or evidence of any kind. This is nothing more than an attempt to embarrass and extort Jerry Jones. This is a shakedown by a lawyer who is a solo practitioner just trying to make a name for himself. The alleged incidents would have been more than five years old. We intend to vigorously contest this complaint and expect it will be shown for what it is - a money grab. Due to the seriousness of these baseless allegations, we have also involved law enforcement."
If that's the case, then the Jones saga will likely be resolved quickly, with no harm done, however, going back to the football, there's another concern for Jones. He has put his faith in Romo like no other, yet he continues to let him, and his team, down, making mistake after mistake. Should the Cowboys look for a new starting quarterback? It's obviously on Jones' mind, as he insisted he had deeply considered drafting Johnny Manziel, who went to the Cleveland Browns.
What do the Cowboys need to become a Super Bowl contender, and will Jones sort this mess out?
