One of the most shocking moments in the Season 3 finale of ABC's Scandal occurred when President Grant's son Jerry died while Fitz was giving a speech. This event is sure to have repercussions in Season 4, and Tony Goldwyn, who plays Fitz, confirmed that hi character will still be suffering when the show returns.
The "Mega Buzz" column at TV Guide reports the following scoop from the man himself.
"Hold off on Olivia-Fitz 'shipping for now. While Liv is relaxing on the beach, Fitz and Mellie will still be grieving Jerry's death, which won't be resolved any time soon. 'It's a huge struggle,' Tony Goldwyn tells us. 'And with the absence of Olivia, emotionally, Fitz is trying to adjust to this new reality. ... It's not about moving forward on their marriage; it's about getting through today. It kind of goes into territory that's deeper and different and unexpected for Scandal.'"
In related news, Olivia (Kerry Washington) and Jake (Scott Foley) left Washington, D.C. in the Season 3 finale for parts unknown, but a new promo for Season 4 reveals where the on-again, off-again lovers went.
Jake repeatedly asked Olivia to "stand in the sun" with him, and it appears that expression was literal, as the promo shows the two on a tropical beach with some wine. Of course, she won't stay there for long, though it's unclear exactly what brings her back to her old life when the show returns on Sept. 25.
