Despite being from opposing teams, New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton delivered an incredibly feel-good gesture to the Cincinnati Bengals defensive tackle. Payton bought 100 jerseys of football player, Denvon Still, with the proceeds going to benefit pediatric cancer treatment and research.
According to the New York Daily News, the Bengals' star athlete joined the active roster because his daughter is battling pediatric cancer. Even though the player has medical insurance, which helps pay for the treatment, the child's own hospital bills could reach up to $1 million. Any father would would try to raise the right amount of funds upon hearing the terrible news that their child is sick.
The Saints coach didn't learn about Still's financial and medial situation until he was on the road driving home. After hearing about the story on the radio, Payton bought 100 jerseys to benefit the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.
After learning about the donation, Still went to his official Twitter account and tweeted, "Big thanks for to the saints for ordering jerseys to help support pediatric cancer. Only one word to describe everything, AMAZING!!"
On the official team Twitter, the Bengals team also thanked the Saints for his contribution, writing, "Hey @Saints, thanks for purchasing 100 @Dev_Still71 jerseys to help sack pediatric cancer! @nfl #NFLSacksCancer"
The Bengals team already has raised more than $100,000 in just two days, after selling Still's jerseys.
