When Rian Johnson was named the director of Star Wars: Episode VIII and Episode IX, fans of the filmmaker were ecstatic! But it turns out some big-name actors were also pretty excited, namely his Brothers Bloom star Mark Ruffalo. This week, thanks to a Twitter conversation, we found out that Ruffalo sent Johnson an e-mail asking for a role in the upcoming Disney project!
In an interview with Collider, Mark admitted he sent out an e-mail to Rian asking for a role.
"Desperately," he said after being asked how badly he wants a role in Episode VIII. "My e-mail to Rian after all these years was, 'Rian, congratulations on everything you've been doing. And by the way, if there's a part in Star Wars, please, anything, please consider considering me to join you."
