Tamar Braxton Explains That Nothing Was Going To Stop Her From Becoming A Star After A Counselor Told Her She'd End Up Working At "McDonalds" [WATCH]

Tamar Braxton had alot of crossroad in her life, as she made sure to keep her head geared on her goals. The singer and reality star opened up about her past during a preview of Centric's show, Being.

"I never wanted to do anything other than sing and act," Tamar said.

The Braxton Family Values, and Tamar & Vince star said when classmates were applying and getting accepted into college and Ivy League schools, she was too busy ignoring the advice from teachers and friends that tried to interrupt her path to stardom.

"Everything that had anything to do with singing, I was a part of," Tamar shared. She and her sisters grew up singing in chorus, and in church. Tamar also starred in musicals as a teen. "It was just all about singing for me. I think everybody knew that's what I wanted to do."

Tamar and her family even made up songs, including the "toilet paper song."

Everyone continued to try to persuade her to attend college, but Tamar decided that wasn't the right decision for her life.

"I remember my guidance counselor got so upset with me and she told me that, 'You're not going to go to college. You're going to end up working at McDonald's,'" Tamar remembers.

Instead of everyone's negative reactions, comments, and opinions, Tamar said that was what made her continue to push forward.

"I just remember how I felt at that moment. I felt so defeated and I felt, at that moment, nothing was going to stop me from being what I wanted to be."
