The cable network TNT is close to a deal with Warner Bros., which owns DC Comics, in developing a Titians TV series for young viewers.
Entertainment Weekly reports that the Pilot which will star Batman's sidekick Dick Grayson, "emerges from the shadow of Batman to become Nightwing, the leader of a fearless band of new Super Heroes including Starfire, Raven and many others. Titans is a dramatic adventure series that will explore and celebrate one of the most popular comic book titles ever."
The series has talent behind it to make it last, including Akiva Goldsman, who worked as a producer on A Beautiful Mind and I Am Legend as well as Marc Haimes. Goldman will executive produce and Haimes will serve as co-executive producer.
Titans takes young superheroes from DC Comics and plops them all into one TV series in which the members are teenage superheroes.
These group of superheroes made their first official appearance under the name "Teen Titans" which included characters Speedy (Roy Harper), Green Arrow's sidekick, Wonder Woman's younger sister and Wonder Girl (Donna Troy).
The series became a big hit in the '80s as a team of writers, Marv Wolfman and artist George Perez launched a new series, The New Teen Titans. This allowed for them to age the characters into young adulthood, which seemed more appropriate to boost ratings. The new characters were Cyborg, Starfire, Raven, Doom Patrol member Beach Boy, as Changeling. After another renaming of Tales of the Teen Titans in 1984 it was canceled in July of 1988.
This is where the series re-launched the Teen Titans in 1996 with members Atom (Roy Palmer), who had been de-aged to a teen. Lastly, a new series titled, Teen Titans began in 2003-2006 as a series of shorts on DC Nation Cartoon Network block.
Warner Bros. is assumed to be launching three new DC Comic series airing on different networks. "Flash," Constantine" and "Gotham."
