Why NXT Takeover 2 Fatal 4 Way Justified The WWE Network's $9.99 Price Tag

If you've watched WWE television at all in the last month, you've heard Triple H, Michael Cole, Jerry "The King" Lawler, JBL and pretty much everyone else say that you can watch all the great action on the WWE Network for just $9.99. Of course, that's $9.99 a month for a minimum six-month commitment, but they tend to omit that part.

Either way, the third NXT live special, NXT Takeover: Fatal 4 Way, colloquially known as NXT Takeover 2, completely justified that price tag. This was a great show from top to bottom, but three segments in particular stood out during the two-hour broadcast.

The main event was the titular Fatal Four Way match for the NXT Championship with champion Adrian Neville, fan favorite Sami Zayn, Nattie's husband Tyson Kidd and Prince Pretty himself Tyler Breeze. It's hard to understate how stellar this match was, as each man showcased his character and talents, and the four men involved told the story beautifully.

They teased a subtle heel turn with Neville when he topped Zayn's suicide dive to show him up with a moonsault onto Kidd and Breeze on the outside. The heelishness ramped up when Zayn nearly captured the title and Neville pulled the referee out of the ring in a classic heel move. But was this a heel turn or just Neville fighting tooth and nail to keep his title as anyone would? This is the type of nuance that NXT does so well.

Zayn, meanwhile, came with a breath of capturing the elusive title only to have it ripped away from him. He is incredibly over as a babyface and has become the modern day version of Tommy Dreamer with tons more in-ring ability. He may never win any piece of gold in WWE, but he'll still be the darling of the fans.

The match also featured moments of excellent ring psychology. Kidd locked in the Sharpshooter on Breeze, the other heel, rather than Zayn or Neville because Breeze has almost no threshold for pain. These little touches are what set NXT apart from the rest of the WWE product.

Oh, we also got to see Breeze kick the tar out of everyone, which was fantastic.

This match set up numerous possible storylines for the immediate and even long-term future of these four men, so mission accomplished for the main event.

Next, we had the debut of KENTA, who will now be known as Hideo Itami in NXT. But rather than just change his name, they had William Regal introduce him as KENTA and let the Japanese superstar explain why he changed his name. Plus, it's evident he is making strides in learning English, which is crucial for an international superstar to succeed in WWE.

When The Ascension came out to get in Regal's face, KENTA showed what he can bring to NXT and WWE. He's got no time for this nonsense. He took the fight right to the former NXT Tag Team Champions. And in the most badass move of the night, he unfolded a steel chair in the ring, sat down and dared Connor and Viktor to come at him. His expressive face told the whole story, which should help him as he learns English and gets better on the microphone.

Finally, the NXT Women's Championship match between Charlotte and Bayley was perhaps the best story told all night. Bayley gave it all she had and refused to stay down, but it just wasn't enough on this night. But the plucky challenger earned the champion's respect to the point that Charlotte saved her from a beat down by Sasha Banks. We now have the setup for a Triple Threat match, which should be a joy to watch.
