With the welterweight and light middleweight titles on the line, Las Vegas' MGM Grand Garden Arena was packed with a lively crowd as they waited for Mayweather vs Maidana 2 to get underway. Even though there was allegation of biting involved, Floyd Mayweather Jr. emerged from the rematch with a unanimous decision over opponent Marcos Maidana.
During the match, Mayweather danced, moved, and countered while Maidana pinned his opponent to the ropes and landed a few right hands. The victorious boxer though claims his boxing rival bit his hand sometime during the eighth round. The biting allegation didn't ruin the momentum because by the ninth round, Maidana had been hit to the head so many times, he actually went to the wrong corner.
According to ESPN, Maidana responds to being called a biter, "He was rubbing my eyes with his glove. Maybe he had his glove in my mouth, but I don't think I bit him."
Twitter followers had their own say about the match:
@PastorYPJ tweets, "Mayweather is just pound for pound the best boxer. He may have his struggles, but he doesn't struggle to read an opponent."
@TonyAndersonTV writes, "Some people are mad that Mayweather hasn't lost, so they attack his reading skills. He made 32 mil tonight. Advantage Mayweather."
Some though were disappointed by the outcome, @PulidoTheGreat states, "I bet if Mayweather fights an English teacher he would get his first loss."
@TonyBellew though loved the match, "Finally watched the full Mayweather fight.. He is a true genius in a boxing ring, appreciate him while he's still here is all I can say #TMT"
@FekkyOfficial also thought this rematch was more exciting, "Easy work! Mayweather boxed much better this time!"
@YourBoyWaz posted the clip of when it all went wrong for Maidanna and writes, "Mayweather gave him a beating for Maidanna to go to the wrong corner."
Floyd Mayweather Jr. remains the champion after taking down Marcos Maidana. Readers what did you think of the rematch?
