Bones actress Emily Deschanel can't wait to celebrate her son Henry's third birthday. But, this won't be your typical party... this one is going to be vegan.
Emily caught up with People on Friday and revealed that she plans to have a vegan-based birthday bash for her son, who is just about to start preschool. "We're going to have a little party for him, trying not to overwhelm him too much," Emily, whose sister is New Girl actress Zooey Deschanel, told People at the Mercy For Animals 15th Anniversary Gala.
When it comes to food, Emily is a vegan and her adorable son is totally on board with the lifestyle. "He's 99 percent vegan. My husband's not 100 percent vegan so sometimes he eats some eggs with him, but I try to make sure [they're] coming from my friend's eggs," Emily explained.
Even though her husband, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia's David Hornsby, doesn't always go vegan, the party will have vegan cuisine, as the actress has been vegan for 21 years. "We're going to have some vegan tacos for his party. It will be a lot of fun," she told the publication.
Being vegan isn't anything new for the Spider-Man 2 actress or Henry, who has been raised on the diet. Emily maintained her vegan lifestyle even when she was pregnant.
"I am very good with my nutrition and I made sure that I got everything I needed [when I was pregnant]. I read books that helped me and I worked with a nutritionist ... so I didn't have a problem, Emily told Mom.Me after she gave birth.
"People are different, and my son will always have a choice, but I'll always feed him vegan food at home. I do believe in explaining to him why I'm vegan and why I'm mainly feeding him vegan food."
