Just because Jimmy Kimmel is killing it on ABC and Carson Daly is finding his niche as a delightful face on NBC's TODAY doesn't mean the two can't collaborate. The Hollywood Reporter notes that the pair just sold a comedy series to ABC.
THR reports that the late night host will write the script himself –– which is a first for him. Sure, while he's worked on the likes of The Man Show and has headed his own for years now, Kimmel has never written a pilot script by himself, which has many questioning how it will turn out. Of course, we have no doubts.
The Jimmy Kimmel Live! personality will produce the pilot alongside Daly and executive producer Dan Fogelman, who created the ABC series The Neighbors.
At the moment, the name of the comedy is unknown, but it's reportedly about a once-upon-a-time VJ who finds himself coming down from his fame, losing everything, and finds his only choice is to move back in with his parents. While there, he takes on a job as the host of a local morning radio program, which apparently is more of a "morning zoo" format ... much to his regret.
While Kimmel and Daly might seem like an unlikely pair to many, the two have been friends for quite some time. In fact, it was Kimmel who suggested the TODAY guest to drop out of college and take the spot of his intern as an LA-based radio station: KROQ.
Thankfully, it worked out for the both of them and they have remained friends all this time.
