Why Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting Cut Her Hair: Find Out What The Cast Of ‘The Big Bang Theory’ Has Been Up To All Summer

The Big Bang Theory is back next Monday, Sept. 22, but what has the hilarious and geeky cast been up to all summer? Entertainment Weekly shared an exclusive behind-the-scenes video of the cast asking each other about their summer vacations. Plus, Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting finally revealed why she cut her hair so short.

In the funny video, the onscreen couples of Penny and Leonard (played by Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting and Johnny Galecki), Howard and Bernadette (played by Simon Helberg and Melissa Rauch) and Amy and Sheldon (played by Mayim Bialik and Jim Parsons) asked each other what they did on break; while Raj (played by Kunal Nayyar) shared his summer vacation adventures solo.

So, what was the gang up to this summer? Working on other projects and traveling, for starters.

Johnny revealed that he traveled all over Europe this summer from Prague to Cophagen. He even kept a travel journal, which Kaley quickly joked about wanting to read.

What about our favorite awkward yet amazing couple Amy and Sheldon? Mayim revealed that she didn't do anything too exciting but she did go camping. Jim on the other hand when to Wimbledon, which he described as "fantastic."

Both Melissa and Kunal were hard at work all summer, filming different projects. "I was working this summer. My husband and I wrote a movie that we were shooting," Melissa said.

Kunal was really busy working and writing a book. "I worked a lot this summer, which was great. I did a movie in Champagne, Illinois called Food. I wrote a book. I shot a little bit of a movie in India," Kunal revealed.

As for Simon, he welcomed a new member into his family this spring and has been busy being a father. Simon and his wife, Jocelyn Towne, welcomed their second child, a baby boy named Wilder in April, according to Us Weekly. "I had a baby, but I knew it was going to happen," Simon said in the Entertainment Weekly video. "I helped rear the baby throughout the summer."

Last but certainly not least, Kaley explained what she did all summer. Besides getting a new dog and hanging out with her horse, the actress revealed the reasoning behind her new pixie haircut.

"Johnny cut his hair ... great haircut. It's a little short ... I like it," Kaley joked with her costar before talking about her new 'do. "We made jokes for years, I'd be like 'I'm going to cut all my hair, I'm going to cut all my hair.'" 

Once she actually chopped it all off, she said "the producers started calling me saying 'so how much shorter is your hair?' I know I cut it really short, but it was for a movie over the summer."

What does this mean for her character Penny? A new look, that's what! After talking to the writers on the show, "I said I think it'd be a great change for Penny and the show and they were very cool about it and on my side and they wrote it in!" Kaley explained.
